The following statement may be attributed to Central West Hospital and Health Board Chair Ms Jane Williams.
Acting Central West Hospital and Health Service Chief Executive Anthony West has been appointed to his position permanently.
I am very pleased that Mr West has accepted the permanent appointment after having acted in the position since September last year when previous acting chief executive Chris Sullivan left our health service.
This is a significant appointment and a testament to Mr West’s skills and abilities that he has now demonstrated through two periods as acting chief executive of our health service.
Mr West previously also had acted as chief executive from November 2021 to March last year.
He has been with Central West Health since June 2018 and is very familiar with our health service and our challenges.
Throughout his time with Central West Health, including as General Manager Primary Health Care, he managed our health service’s high-performing mental health and alcohol and other drugs service and supported the management of the COVID–19 pandemic within our region.
Mr West also had direct oversight over Central West Health’s successful maternity service and its merger with our child health services in order to focus on a child’s first 2000 days.
As we move into the post-pandemic world, he will be able to provide strong continuity of leadership for our health service and our communities and I welcome him to the position of Chief Executive.
