The $10.867 million package of works at Longreach Hospital will give people better access to care closer to home and improve patient journey.

Proposed works

The project will include:

  • a new three-chair, nurse-assisted renal dialysis unit
  • upgraded pathology department
  • upgraded pharmacy department.

Timeline

  • Start date: 29 January
  • Proposed completion: late 2024
  • Pharmacy relocated between 16-18 April, followed by Pathology from 19-24 April
  • Dental and administration services operated from their regular sites, and pharmacy and pathology collection occurred from their temporary locations as you turn right after entering through the front doors of the Administration Wing.
  • From Monday 29 April 2024 through to July 2024, the corridor connecting the Longreach Hospital to the administration wing will be temporarily closed while work begins on the new pathology and pharmacy units.
  • During this time, patients and staff will be directed to use the front entrance to the administration wing from the car park to access dental, admin, pathology and pharmacy services.
  • Pharmacy will move back into their refurbished rooms between 10-16 July, followed by Pathology from 15-18 July.
  • The corridor connecting the administration wing to the hospital will reopen before Monday 22 July.
